Parish Council Update
The Parish Council is pleased to share the latest news and updates with residents across Collingham and Linton.
Floral displays
A big thank you to our appointed contractor for maintaining the Parish Council’s floral displays this year. The displays have looked fantastic and have really helped brighten up the village. We’ve had some lovely feedback from residents, and we’re very grateful for all the hard work that has gone into keeping them looking so colourful and welcoming.
Thank you for helping to make our villages look so lovely!
Could you help shape our future?
Collingham & Linton Parish Council has 10 Councillor seats, but currently only 4 are filled. That means 6 vacancies and an opportunity for more local residents to get involved in the future of our community.
We have ideas for the future, but we also want to hear your ideas - from Beck Wood and our other community assets, to projects, facilities and issues that matter to local residents.
With only four Councillors, the Council is operating with very little flexibility. Four Councillors are required for a meeting to be quorate, so if one is unable to attend, a meeting cannot go ahead and decisions may have to be delayed.
We recently held a coffee morning to give residents an opportunity to find out more about the Parish Council and what being a Councillor involves. Unfortunately, no residents attended.
You don't need to be an expert or have previous experience. Councillors receive support and training, and what matters most is being willing to listen, learn and contribute to our community.
If you are interested in finding out more, please email the Parish Council for an informal chat. There is no obligation to become a Councillor.
We would also like to hear from residents who might be interested. Perhaps you feel something is stopping you or you are unsure about the time commitment, what the role involves or whether you have the right experience. Let us know what your concerns are so we can understand how we can better support and encourage local people to get involved.
Harewood Police and Community Together meeting
A Harewood Police and Community Together (PACT) meeting is being held on Thursday 19 November 2026, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Collingham Memorial Hall. PACT meetings give residents an opportunity to meet with their local Neighbourhood Policing Team, raise concerns and discuss policing issues affecting the local community. Residents are most welcome to attend and have their say.
Memorials at Beck Wood
The Parish Council has an adopted Memorial Policy which does not permit memorial plaques to be attached to trees or additional mementoes to be placed on or around trees on Parish Council-owned land.
We appreciate that these items are often placed as a mark of remembrance and understand their personal significance. We are sorry that it is necessary to ask for some items to be removed as the policy needs to be applied consistently.
The Parish Council is therefore asking that any items at Beck Wood that do not comply with the policy are removed by 31 October 2026.
Any items remaining after this date will be removed by the Parish Council and stored for collection. Anyone wishing to arrange collection of an item should email the Parish Clerk to make suitable arrangements.
Jubilee Playground Bins
Due to the new Simpler Recycling requirements, the Parish Council has had to make changes to the waste arrangements at the playground.
An additional recycling bin will now be provided alongside the existing general waste bin. Clear signage will be displayed to help residents identify which bin to use.
Please ensure that recycling waste is placed in the recycling bin and general waste in the general waste bin. Recycling bins that contain unsuitable or contaminated items may not be emptied, and continued misuse could result in the recycling service being withdrawn.
We would like to ask all residents and visitors to use the bins correctly and help us ensure the new arrangements work effectively.
Jubilee Field fitness equipment – we want your views
The Parish Council is reviewing the adult fitness equipment at Jubilee Field. Some of the equipment requires repair, and the original supplier has advised that it has reached the end of its useful life and would require full replacement.
As repair or replacement would involve significant expenditure, the Parish Council would like to hear from residents about how often the equipment is used and whether it is a valued facility.
If you use the equipment, have views on its future, or have other suggestions for how this area of Jubilee Field could be used, please email the Parish Clerk with your feedback.
Your views will help Councillors when considering the future of the equipment and the use of this area.
